Disabled Surfie Poem
Recently was asked a question,
That got me having to think,
With MS what it was I missed -
I answered quicker than a blink!

Being immersed in the ocean,
Feel the water swirling, caressing,
Loving my body; lifting, surging -
Caring supporters helpful, addressing –

Allowing the personal experience,
Shivers of delight, salty-tasting sea,
Feel the surfboard rear and propel,
Trusting, ‘living in the moment’ - free!

The electric shock of the cold water
Travels up my legs, into my spine,
Bringing me squeals of pure joy,
Displace - weightless, roaring brine.

Lacy broken patterns of sea-foam,
Sitting atop the water alongside,
Sandy water getting inside clothes –
Absolutely ecstatic at the seaside.

My happy heart was full to bursting
More than ten years since I’d been -
Beneath God’s magnificent waters,
To do it all again, I’m really keen!
